The natural beauty of Mauritius is swathed in green and surrounded by turquoise. In response to the growing awareness of how fragile this ecosystem is, many parks and reserves have been created to conserve the native flora and fauna of the island before it is too late.
The Domaine-du-Chasseur nature park is a wonderful area to experience the lost paradise of Mauritius and walk amongst the deer and flora. Take the opportunity to visit this idyllic place as part of the nature cruise on offer.
The Casela Bird Park is a must for ornithologists where there are over 140 varieties of protected species with the Pink Pigeon as the main attraction. The Yemen reserve has over 4,500 hectares of savannah with roaming fauna and exquisite flora.
A day at L’etoile offers a range of archery, quad biking and hiking through this rugged terrain and a chance to see animals in the sanctuary of their natural habitat.
Finally visit the home of the ‘dodo’ which is now conservation area looked after by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation and come face to face with the giant tortoises of Mauritius.
